Last Friday I visited a crafter's mall near my home. (removed link. Email me if you want it)
I had visited last November (2010) in hopes of rekindling my love of the craft since for 2 consecutive years, back to back, I have battled being struck down - one a death, and another personal matter with which I'm still struggling to 'process' (what? it's the new catchphrase).
In my quest to keep putting one foot in front of the other, I decided by a chance lane change to revisit the crafter's mall.
Indeed, they even remembered me (!) and I recounted my earlier doubts and the (gasp) minimum fee with lease that I was in doubt of.
Well, they have offered the possibility of wholesaling my soaps! They are requesting samples first (sure!) and about 4, 5, or 6 kinds, about a dozen of each. Not to mention I think they have merchants and marketing available there that perhaps I could pay to be mentored and learn more about how to run a business and be the sole owner and R&D person. I'd rather make soap and not have to deal with the marketing, so the wholesaling for now is a tip in the right direction for me.
BTW, for those of you that know me on Etsy, I may be moving stock over to Artfire.com. I'm also looking into Zibbett but haven't settled on that yet. The setup at Artfire is different and more agreeable to me. Watch this space and I'll announce it here.
Right now I want to enlist your help in deciding these categories. I'm thinking, plain, oatmeal, Patchouli, Kitchen Coffee soap, Mechanic's, Lavender and Lemongrass, with perhaps a rotation of a flavor of the month thing. Let me know your favorites, so I can get crackin'!
Stay Tuned!
